On June 20th, the XXVIII Compasso d'Oro Award ceremony will be held, followed by the inauguration of the exhibition showcasing all the design projects participating in the selection.
Seventy years have passed since the first Compasso d'Oro, an award established in 1954 from an idea by Gio Ponti, which seeks excellence and innovation in Italian design. Seventy years of work have made it the highest recognition in a sector that today represents one of the most significant cultural and economic values and have given rise to a collection recognized by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage as being of exceptional artistic and historical interest.
This year's edition, the XXVIII, aims to promote the quality of projects that have always distinguished the Compasso d'Oro and is a symbol of the pursuit of quality, which has evolved over the decades following cultural and societal changes but remains the benchmark of the award. The Compasso d'Oro is a tool for measuring this special quality, born from the convergence of various exceptional aspects: aesthetic, industrial, and market-related. "A history that started long ago but has, in a sort of extended present, maintained coherence and the ability to develop proactive relationships to build an idea of a civil community," emphasizes ADI President Luciano Galimberti.
