ARTISSIMA 2021

5-7 NOVEMBER 2021

ARTISSIMA Perottino - Piva - Bottallo

From 5 to 7 November the 28th edition of Artissima, international contemporary art fair that has been held annually since 1994 in Turin, takes place in the spaces of the Oval Lingotto.

In addition to the main exhibition, this year Artissima proposes three thematic artistic sections, visible both physically on display in the pavilion and on the digital platform Artissima XYZ, whose name recalls the multidimensional and multimedia approach adopted by the portal, a sort of journey to 360 ° degrees to discover the works of 30 artists, 10 for each section. The platform will remain online until November 9, 2021.

The first section 'Present Future', curated by Fernanda Brenner and Ilaria Gianni, is dedicated to emerging artists.

The 'Drawings' section curated by Bettina Steinbrügge and Lilou Vidal collects the works of ten artists of heterogeneous geographical origin and age, who have resorted to humorous or grotesque scenarios in their practice.

The last section 'Back to the Future' is instead dedicated to the pioneers of contemporary art and is curated by Lorenzo Giusti and Mouna Mekouar. The section collects works from 1960 by artists of different origins and backgrounds, in dialogue with recent works, until 2020.

The fair also undertakes to support young artists in collaboration with partners by awarding prizes such as the illy Present Future, the FPT Award for Sustainable Art, the Tosetti Value Award for photography, the Carol Rama Award by Fondazione Sardi per l'Arte, the Xiaomi HyperCharge Award; three awards supported by local institutions: the OGR Award, the Ettore and Ines Fico Award, the "ad occhi chiusi ..." Award by Fondazione Merz.

In addition to the spaces of the Oval, Artissima creates a dialogue with the city of Turin, establishing relations with the territory and organizing events in institutional, non-profit and private spaces. On Saturday 6 November, the Turin Art Week offers the ‘Notte delle arti contemporanee’ where the Fair, museums and galleries will be open to the public until late hours with dedicated rates and initiatives.
